Huh?!
So, I pulled up to a gas station on the south side of Tallahassee yesterday to get some gas. As I walked towards the door of the store to pay, I saw a window sticker on a Saturn Vue that caught my eye. At the top of the 4”x6” sticker were the words “Stand for Something or Die for Nothing”. As soon as I read the words, I was in agreement. I thought to myself, “exactly. if your not willing to die for a cause, your not truly living.”……But then I finished reading the sticker. Below those words were two confederate flags, the dates that the civil war was fought (1861-1865), and then, on the very bottom, the words “we will never forget.” As I continued to pass by the SUV, I noticed the person inside was a white female around the age of 55, or at least she looked like she was. I was baffled! I thought, is it still that serious? Its been 144 years since the end of this war, and it seemed that it was still being used to divide. I kept thinking, “we will never forget” what? Being slave owners? Jim Crow? Segregation? I had to call a friend of mine to laugh at the situation with me! We were both like, get over it! Your great great great somebody just might have fought in the war, and maybe they died, but thats really no reason to harbor ill will…..
Our conversation ended before I walked back outside, but I ended up having to call him back because of what I heard when I walked back outside. Now, keep in mind that its a middle aged white female. When I opened the door, walking back outside, I heard really loud music blasting. I started to look around to see where it was coming from as I walked to my car. Then I realized that the loud music was coming from the Saturn. And THEN I realized what was playing. The newest downloaded unedited 50 Cent……Huh?!
